I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world, because I get to do what I love most for a living: Write and Perform Music.
I was born and raised in the NYC area and dreamed of being a balladeer along the lines of Joan Baez or Gordon Lightfoot. During college, I performed in venues like coffee shops and restaurants and became comfortable in front of an audience.
It was when I got married and had children, however, that I experienced the magic of singing to children!
I discovered that kids LOVE MUSIC and SONGS! My children loved learning through singing! Soon I was writing songs about our daily experiences! I wrote songs to teach them about washing their hands (Clean, Clean, Clean) , bugs in the house (Spider In My Bathroom), colors (Hello Yellow) , trains (Train Ride) making friends at the Park (Hello Song). I even wrote a song to explain why I hadn’t done a lick of housework that day! (KiddieLand).
I entitled my first CD “Stories of Childhood” because it was a snapshot of how I experienced childhood from my kids point of view… and from my own. It was my first effort in compiling my songs for an album.
My second CD “Hello Yellow” is a collection of songs born from performing for hundreds of preschool and school age children. I wanted to capture the JOY children exude in living, loving and learning each day! One day I plan on “Hello Yellow” and “GoodNight Yellow” being illustrated in a children’s book!
I am currently working on a new CD/Book for preschool teachers (and moms) which will be a tool for learning and teaching the rudiments of learning through music!
I am grateful to all the kids and their parents who have come to know and enjoy my music! It is a privilege performing for you and my greatest joy! Thanks for all the support and making memories with me that only get better with time!
Thanks for stopping in!
Love, Trish
I have a degree in Child Development and over 10 years of child care experience including 4 years in a Preschool Director position. Observing “Ms. Trish” from an educators perspective, I can say I am quite pleased with her positive attitude, respect for both the children and their parents; as well as her ability to appropriately handle “difficult” situations. Many times children approach her in the middle of a song, interrupting the performance. Trish acknowledges these children and guides them back to a “listening” position, while never missing a note!
“WE LOVE TRISH! Trish has been a fixture since shortly after we opened Bass Lake Park in late 2004. There’s no better way to spend a Friday evening with the family than sitting in your blanket, ice cream dripping down your arm, listening to ‘Hello Yellow’. My sons, 3 and 1 1/2 are usually the rowdiest two, but love dancing with all of their friends and singing along”!
“Trish Miller puts on a great show! The children absolutely loved her! Her songs are fun and upbeat. All the kids sang and danced right along with her. Lots of smiles, and a good time had by all, including me. I am still singing her songs in my head. We look forward to having her back.”
